If God wants us healed, healthy, and wealthy… then why aren’t we?

Not long ago a man emailed me to ask me a tough question. “I was listening to your message. My wife and I are Christians for many years. We both believe that God will and can prosper us. But we have no more money. I have no job. We have debt. My wife has diabetes. We believe in healing, but we have not seen it. We believe in prosperity, but we are broke. We believe in it, but it is not working.”

How to triple your productivity… instantly.

Being productive is more about eliminating resistance (drag) than about getting better at anything.

Here are 3 simple practices that, in my experience, will triple your output:

Do one thing at a time, for a focused block of time (using a digital timer), to the exclusion of all else.
Check email only once per day.
Accept no incoming phone calls, and return voicemails only once per day.

And here’s the thing: for these practices to work, you can’t do them half-heartedly. You must be a fanatic. You must bring intensity to the game.

Try it with full-on emotional intensity for one week and see the difference in your output.

I’ve been on a personal health quest over the last few months, proactively taking control of what I’m eating and the quality and frequency of the physical exercise I get. The results are clear. I’ve lost over 50 pounds, had to buy a new belt, and had to buy some new clothes. I have a lot more progress to make, but it’s been a very encouraging, if somewhat challenging experience.

I’ve tried to take control of my health in the past, and frankly didn’t have a great deal of success, at least not long-term. How To Avoid 40 Years In The Desert.

Whether you’re a spiritual person or not, I believe the key to changing your outcome for the year is hidden within a story from the Bible that illustrates the power of our thoughts to influence the course of our lives.

Here are some things to think about:

• God hasn’t promised us the “just enough.” His present-day will for us is not last-minute, enough-for-the-day, wilderness rations … he wants us to receive the abundant gifts of the “land flowing with milk and honey.”
• God’s original plan for Israel was to take their Promised Land in days, not decades.
• Even though it took Israel 40 years to be ready, if you have faith, I believe you can move mountains in just 40 days.

There are those in the family of faith that believe that setting goals is “sinful arrogance”. The argument for this belief comes from the book of James in the New Testament. James, the brother of Jesus, says this…

“Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit’— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.’ As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. (James 4:13-16)

James is echoing the sentiment of this passage from the Old Testament:

“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.” (Proverbs 27:1)

Do these verses teach us that setting goals is sinful arrogance? I don’t think so. In fact, I think it is our duty as Christians to set goals, and I have three strong reasons to support that assertion. We’ll get to those in a moment, but first I want to tackle this idea that Christians should not set goals at all.

People who hold this view (that goal-setting is wrong) usually offer as argument the idea that they are “free to be led by the Spirit”. They want to be sure they are “open to God’s will”. There are at least three incorrect pre-suppostions embedded within this position. If this is your belief, you are assuming:

1. Your “feelings” and “promptings” are the one and only infallible way of accessing God’s specific plan and will for any situation. You can only trust those feelings of yours to know when you are “in God’s will”. Hello, scary cult leader. Our emotions are important for relating to God and what He is saying, but they don’t rule over everything else. Sometimes our feelings are just inaccurate. Even Jesus experienced this. In the Garden of Gethsemane the night before His crucifixion, he was emotionally distressed and asked God to spare him from the horrors that lay ahead. But Jesus ultimately conceded, “Not my will but Yours.” Emotionally, he did not want to experience what was to come – but He knew it had to be done, and He did it.
2. The second pre-supposition those opposed to goal-setting make is that Holy Spirit only leads us spontaneously – that He never leads us to make plans. That is simply not supported by scripture. Paul made plans (Romans 1:13). The early Apostles made plans ( Acts 6:1-3). Jesus made plans (Matthew 10:5-15).
3. Finally, those holding the “no goal-setting” view are disregarding the fact that we can also hear the voice of the Holy Spirit though God’s written word. The Bible makes it clear that we can receive fresh revelation from god through his written word ( Matthew 4:4, 2 Timothy 3:15-17).

Just like we are supposed to be good stewards of our wealth, we are also supposed to be good stewards of our life. Selah.

The cure for fear? The opposite of fear is not courage. It’s love.

The Bible says, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear …” (1 John 4:18 NIV).

God is love, and the more you fill your life with God, the less fear you are going to have.

Do you  need wisdom to make decisions in your business? Ask God! He is ready to help.

Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.” – Genesis 41:39-40

No matter how bad things got, Joseph always trusted God as the source of his wisdom.

1. Joseph started out “in the pit” – literally.
2. Then he was sold into slavery.
3. Then he was thrown into prison.

But no matter where he was thrown, or what was thrown at him, Joseph turned to God for wisdom to make decisions. He ended up running the household of his master. He ended up running the prison. And in the end, he ended up running the foreign nation that had taken him captive – Egypt!

Are you in a “valley” in your life?

Are you lonely? Depressed? Afraid?

Maybe it's a minor valley – a day where you seem to be slightly off schedule and unproductive, ineffective, and uninspired.

Maybe it's more serious: an argument with your spouse, a problem with a child who has gone astray, or you've just lost your job.

Or maybe it's worse: you or someone you love received a devastating medical diagnosis. Someone close to you may have died or been horribly injured.

These are all valleys – and all can lead to hopelessness and the fear of facing the valley alone. There's even a song about it, written by Woody Guthrie:

You gotta walk that lonesome valley,
You gotta walk it by yourself,
Nobody here can walk it for you,
You gotta walk it by yourself.

This is actually a Christian song, full of references to Biblical heroes. It's well-written. It's catchy. And it is 100% wrong.

Jesus is our Great and Good Shepherd, and He promises every believer that he will “never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5-6).

He said, “I will be with you always.” (Matthew 28:20)

You are never alone. You don't walk ANY valley by yourself – not even the darkest one.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
Psalm 23:4

Notice it's the valley of the SHADOW of death. Not death itself. For Christians, there is no such thing as death. We go on. We transition. We are resurrected – but it's even better than that. We are placed into bodies and lives BETTER than any we EVER have in this present age.

Jesus walked the valley of death so we wouldn't have to. Then he snatched the victory from death, rose again, and handed us back the keys of the kingdom.

It's worth noting that up until this point in the 23rd Psalm. God is LEADING us… and then suddenly we WALK into the valley of the SHADOW of death.

But even though walking into the FEAR of death may be our choice… or perhaps we even contributed to the DANGER TO OURSELVES by smoking, driving drunk, cheating in a marriage – or whatever… Jesus is not there to WHACK us with his Shepherd's staff and say “I TOLD you so!”

But see how Jesus, our good shepherd, watches over and delivers us even though we walk—not by His leading—into the valley of the shadow of death.

He is still with you in the valley.

It's NOT a lonesome valley.

You DON'T have to walk it by yourself.

Somebody else DID walk it for you.

His name is Jesus.

Now, this is where people get STUCK.

• “How do I make a product?”
• “I don't have a video studio/camera/produce/face.”
• “I'm shy.”
• “I can't write, or I hate writing.”

The “how” to make the product is NOT THE MAIN ISSUE. It's a detail. People get stuck, but it's easy to overcome.

This is all a smokescreen for the REAL problem.

The REAL problem is: we don't like to sell.

GET OVER YOUR INNER CONFLICTS

Your product is good.

Business only works when both sides prosper.

The trick is pretty simple: use three times as many monitors.

1. I can keep a resource open on one monitor (research, notes, etc.)
2. My working document on the center monitor.
3. I can keep communication or utilities open on the third monitor.

Decide What Kind of Day to Have

“I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises.”

Our expectation determines our experience.

We often leap to a conclusion about what things mean. For most people, the conclusion is often negative.

We are all too prone to base our expectation of today on what happened yesterday, or the past few months, or the past few years.

You may have had a rough day, week, month, or year. People in your life might be angry, negative, complainers, or even abusive.

The fact is: it doesn't matter what happened in the past – that does not determine your future! You get to decide what kind of day you're going to have.

Right now, you have the power to become the change you want to see in your life. Even if people are mean, bad things are happening all around you, and nothing may seem to be going your way.

Expect the goodness of God to show up in your life, and expect

Expect the goodness of God to show up in your life, and expect favor, blessings, and good success. Speak words of faith over your day, over your life and over your future.

Get a bigger vision of your life, expect your path to be illuminated and clear, and make room for God to do something amazing for you.

Don't Get Attached to Outcomes

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
– James 4:13-16

Verse 17 says: “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

I think this is saying: we should just be looking for ways to help. Make plans, but don't obsess over things going exactly your way every time. There may be more important opportunities at work than you can currently see.

Stop Trying to Figure It Out

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding.”
(Proverbs 3:5, NKJV)

Have you ever faced a situation that seemed impossible? We all do at some point. Sometimes it just seems that a certain problem has no logical solution.

It's in moments like these that we need to give up trying to figure it out. Sometimes it's best to remember that we have access to “the mind of Christ”. I did not make that up, the Apostle Paul says so in the New Testament.

So if we have access to “the mind of Christ”, that means we have access to the vast storehouse of knowledge of God himself. And trust me, He knows the answer to your problem.

How do we access this source of wisdom and power? We have to do the most counterintuitive thing: turn off the logic machine, stop researching our problem on Google, stop overanalyzing the problem, and stop looking for answers in the natural realm.

It's time to tap into the supernatural. Stop leaning on our own understanding, and instead, choose to trust God.  None of the problems we face are a surprise to God, nor are they a challenge to Him.

Your mind is a powerful thing. But sometimes, your mind will try to distract you, so you don't even notice that God is speaking to your heart all the time. Your mind, not your heart, is the source of fear, doubt, and terror. These emotions can block the signal God is broadcasting to your heart.

That's why it says in the book of Proverbs we should trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.

And if you can simply “let it go”, stop thinking about the problem and the solutions so much, and just listen for what God has to say, you will find faith rising up. You'll start to feel hope, even in impossible situations.

So today, no matter how dark things may look to you now, choose to lean on God. Trust that He has a good future in store for you. Trust that He has poured out grace and favor on your life. Trust Him, because in the final analysis, He's the only one you can totally trust, every time.

Join me in a prayer like this:

“Daddy, I'm making the choice to lean on you. Not on my own understanding. I know that you are working all things out for my good. So I won't put my confidence in the evidence that I see, but I will trust in your Word, and I will trust in You. I receive Your peace, in Jesus's name. Amen.”

Don't Block Your Blessing

“…Whatever He says to you, do it.”
(John 2:5, NKJV)

If I offer you a gift, holding out to you with arms extended, but you keep your hands in your pockets… To whom does the gift still belong?

I can't force you to take it.

Yet, sometimes this is how we behave in life. There are gifts that are right in front of us, we have our hands firmly stuffed in our pockets, oblivious to what life is offering us.

there are times when we are so focused on the only thing we can think about (such as needing more money) that we fail to see what God is offering to us in the here and now. Usually, it will lead us directly to what we need provision for.

You might say, “I get that, but I do need money and I don't have my hands in my pockets. But God still hasn't supplied me with the money.”

We'll keep in mind that the “hands in pockets” thing is a metaphor. There may be something else that God is asking you to do or suggesting to you that you are ignoring. As because you're so focused on the outcome, you're missing the process.

You might say that you're working hard, but your timing faithfully, and the your “doing everything right”. And maybe you are. And I certainly don't want to get into a discussion about whether or not we earn God's favor (we don't).

But one thing I know we do is sometimes block God's attempts to bless us. Is the equivalent of having your hands in your pockets when someone's trying to give you a gift.

For instance, if you're holding bitterness and anger in your heart toward someone, or unforgiveness, that could block your blessing.

Today, ask the Lord to help you search your own heart for anything that may be blocking or refusing his power. This is about trying to find something wrong with you, by the way. It's not about trying to “search out sin”. Most of us don't need to search sin out – we know exactly where to find it.

This can be more subtle.

If you're spending all your energy and emotional reserves on harboring unforgiveness toward someone, or you're operating from a victim mindset because you're so “wounded”, you're cutting off access to your own best self. You're limiting the resources you have access to, and you're doing it by choice.

So you might try praying something like this today:

“Daddy, every part of my life belongs to you. I know you have my best interest at heart. Show me anything I need to do, anything I need to change, so that I'm open to receiving everything you want to give me. In Jesus name, Amen.”

Favor Is Pursuing You!

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
(Psalm 23:6)

I have a friend – let's call him Pete – who seems to have the Midas Touch. Everything he touches turens to gold.

He publishes a book, it's a NYT Best Seller.

He sells a product online, it makes millions.

His family is the family everyone dreams of.

But it's not King Midas' touch – it's the touch of the One True King, Jesus.

In the Bible, there was another King, David, who was known as a man after God’s own heart.

His outlook on life was instructive.

In Psalm 23, he says, “Goodness and mercy are following me.”

David expected favor. He expected goodness. One translation says, “God’s kindness chases me everywhere that I go.”

King David’s attitude was “something good is going to happen to me. Favor is following me. Wherever I go, God’s blessings are pursuing me. ”

It's no mystery why David overcame great obstacles, and saw his dreams come true. He was positive that goodness was chasing him down like the “hound of heaven.”

And God's goodness is chasing YOU right now.

That same Psalm says “I lack nothing.”

So what's chasing you is not lack. It's not failure. It's not sickness. It's not depression or anxiety.

God says you are a royal priest, a child of the king, and heir to the promises given to Abraham, a co-heir with Christ.

God says all your debts have been paid. You're redeemed from every curse.

Divine connections, restoration of what was lost, favor, grace, and blessings … all in hot pursuit of YOU, wherever you are!

God’s goodness and mercy are chasing you – all the days of your life!

Pray this prayer with me:

Daddy thank you for the gift of righteousness and the abundance of grace. thanks for your goodness and mercy! Today I'll be looking for your goodness and mercy in my life. Amen!

 More Than You Imagined

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
(1 Corinthians 2:9)

I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease a few years ago. I've been contending for a supernatural breakthrough (i.e., miraculous healing by God) all this time.

Just last week, I went to the neurologist for my quarterly exam. I almost cancelled the appointment, because I've been feeling so much better. But I decided to go anyway.

The doctor was soon shaking his head and grinning.

“I am a tough judge,” he said. “But you are BETTER. You're still symptomatic, but you're WAY better than you were a year ago.”

“Ray,” he said, “People don't GET better from this. And yet, here you are.”

Then he said the thing that really got to me.

“I'm so glad you didn't cancel. I needed this. All day I'm surrounded by people who have given up. You have really encouraged me.”

We all get discouraged. We all need someone to lift us up. And I've got good news for you…

Whatever you're dealing with, don't give up on God. He will never give up on you. Help is on the way. In Christ's Kingdom, people DO get better.

Because God loves you, He longs to shower us with natural and supernatural blessings: healing, restoration, opportunities, favor, increase, and peace.

God's dream for your life is better, bigger, and more than you can imagine.

Maybe your dream is to be healed from an incurable disease. Maybe it's just to experience a day without pain. God's dream is that you live in vibrant, divine health.

Maybe your dream is to stop living in desperate poverty, deep in debt. God's dream is your credit cards are paid off, your mortgage is paid off. God's dream is to increase your wealth so that you never worry about money again

You might dream of existing without fear or depression. God's dream is for you to be overflowing with confidence and joy.

Get ready for good things. God has more blessings for you than you ever imagined. Keep your heart open and your mind open and your eyes open… today could very well be the day you experience the abundant life Jesus promised!

If you're a praying person, pray this with me… if you're not, think of it as an affirmation:

Daddy, thank you that your hand is with me, and thank you for pouring out your blessing, grace, and favor on my life. I accept your abundance in every area of my life, in Jesus name. Amen!

Control Your Attitude & Your Altitude For a Smoother Flight Through Life

Attitude Determines Outcome

“Orientation of the aircraft relative to Earth's horizon. It indicates pitch (fore and aft tilt) and bank (side to side tilt) and is a primary instrument for flight in instrument meteorological conditions.  Attitude indicators are also used on manned spacecraft, where they indicate the craft's yaw angle (nose left or right) as well as pitch and roll, relative to a fixed-space inertial reference frame.”

“I believe the single most important decision I can make on a day-to-day basis is my attitude choice. It’s more important than my past. It’s more important than my education or my bankroll or my success or my failures. My attitude choice is more important than my fame or my pain or what others think or say about me or my position or my circumstances. Attitudes keep me going or cripple my progress. There are 3 Keys to Remember About Attitude and Altitude

1. First, the attitude reveals the true person. “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.” Matthew 15:18
2. Second, the attitude predicts the future. “For as a person thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7, NKJV).
3. Third, our attitude CONTROLS our altitude. And altitude is life. “Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” Philippians 4:8New King James Version (NKJV)

BAM! Goal Targets

• B – aseline. Your “Baseline” goal target is what you can reasonably be expected to do, based on your past performance. You know you will always hit your baseline.
• A – mazing. Your “Amazing” goal target is one you are reasonably sure you can hit this level, but you're not sure you will. The Amazing Target requires hustle, commitment, and discipline. But it's possible, and you know it.
• M – iracle. The “Miracle” Target is just what the name implies. It's only possible through a miracle. It's amazing how many miracles happen in the wake of hustle.

How to lead like Jesus.

 Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him,  Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.  Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?”

Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.”

Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!”

Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.”

Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”

Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.” For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, “You are not all clean.”

So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am.  If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.  Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

Many (if not most) modern Christians have a “pop-up Jesus”… we “pop him up” on Sunday morning, or maybe while we're listening to Christian radio.

But when the chips are down (sickness, relationship trouble, financial problems), we often turn to more “practical” answers, like medical science, Dr. Phil, and good financial books. None of that is bad. But if we put our faith in those things, we're sunk.

We need to pursue, and be preoccupied, with “the One Thing” for all Christians.

If you are a Christian, there is only one thing you need. And we should be obsessed with that One Thing.

Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”

And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

Whenever you find yourself worried about “many things”, remember the One Thing that is needful. Jesus.

You Must Have a Vision Before You Can See It
