Turns out you can neatly break them into 5 sections, or  phases of business development.

Today we’ll cover Phase 1.

Spiritual Foundations

Fear keeps us from becoming all God intends for you.

It can ruin your life. Anxiety makes us sick.

Sometimes the solution for that is medical.

But often we are trying to use a medical solution to a spiritual problem.

There are 365 “fear not” commands in the Bible. That’s one for every day of the year.

Angels, and the post-resurrection Christ, always said, “Fear not!”

The cure for fear? The opposite of fear is not courage. It’s love.

The Bible says, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear …” (1 John 4:18 NIV).

God is love, and the more you fill your life with God, the less fear you are going to have.

Last week's episode was a hot one – as we covered how to promote and sell your products and services online. If you haven't listened to episode #240 of The Ray Edwards Show, we recommend that you do so.

This week, we're tackling the issue that really holds most people back – their conflicting beliefs about money and prosperity. And even if you were born after 1990, even if you were raised on Adam Smith and your mama read you bedtime stories by Ayn Rand… you probably still have some of these inner conflicts you're gonna have to deal with someday if you ever want to reach your full entrepreneurial potential.

Spiritual Foundations

Do you  need wisdom to make decisions in your business? Ask God! He is ready to help.

Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.” – Genesis 41:39-40

No matter how bad things got, Joseph always trusted God as the source of his wisdom.

  1. Joseph started out “in the pit” – literally.
  2. Then he was sold into slavery.
  3. Then he was thrown into prison.

But no matter where he was thrown, or what was thrown at him, Joseph turned to God for wisdom to make decisions. He ended up running the household of his master. He ended up running the prison. And in the end, he ended up running the foreign nation that had taken him captive – Egypt!

Spiritual Foundations

Are you in a “valley” in your life?

Are you lonely? Depressed? Afraid?

Maybe it's a minor valley – a day where you seem to be slightly off schedule and unproductive, ineffective, and uninspired.

Maybe it's more serious: an argument with your spouse, a problem with a child who has gone astray, or you've just lost your job.

Or maybe it's worse: you or someone you love received a devastating medical diagnosis. Someone close to you may have died or been horribly injured.

These are all valleys – and all can lead to hopelessness and the fear of facing the valley alone. There's even a song about it, written by Woody Guthrie:

You gotta walk that lonesome valley,
You gotta walk it by yourself,
Nobody here can walk it for you,
You gotta walk it by yourself.

This is actually a Christian song, full of references to Biblical heroes. It's well-written. It's catchy. And it is 100% wrong.

Jesus is our Great and Good Shepherd, and He promises every believer that he will “never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5-6).

He said, “I will be with you always.” (Matthew 28:20)

You are never alone. You don't walk ANY valley by yourself – not even the darkest one.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
Psalm 23:4

Notice it's the valley of the SHADOW of death. Not death itself. For Christians, there is no such thing as death. We go on. We transition. We are resurrected – but it's even better than that. We are placed into bodies and lives BETTER than any we EVER have in this present age.

Jesus walked the valley of death so we wouldn't have to. Then he snatched the victory from death, rose again, and handed us back the keys of the kingdom.

It's worth noting that up until this point in the 23rd Psalm. God is LEADING us… and then suddenly we WALK into the valley of the SHADOW of death.

But even though walking into the FEAR of death may be our choice… or perhaps we even contributed to the DANGER TO OURSELVES by smoking, driving drunk, cheating in a marriage – or whatever… Jesus is not there to WHACK us with his Shepherd's staff and say “I TOLD you so!”

But see how Jesus, our good shepherd, watches over and delivers us even though we walk—not by His leading—into the valley of the shadow of death.

He is still with you in the valley.

It's NOT a lonesome valley.

You DON'T have to walk it by yourself.

Somebody else DID walk it for you.

His name is Jesus.

Feature Segment: Promote Your Product

Last time, in episode 239

3 Converging Forces That Make “Idea Businesses” Possible

  1. Global Networks
  2. Instant Commerce Systems
  3. Digital Distribution

These 3 converging forces make it possible to take your life's passion and turn that passion into a book, a product, or a business.

We gave you a method for determining WHAT to package into a product. So if you need that, go back and listen to episode 239.

Now, this is where people get STUCK.

  • “How do I make a product?”
  • “I don't have a video studio/camera/produce/face.”
  • “I'm shy.”
  • “I can't write, or I hate writing.”

The “how” to make the product is NOT THE MAIN ISSUE. It's a detail. People get stuck, but it's easy to overcome.

This is all a smokescreen for the REAL problem.

The REAL problem is: we don't like to sell.

GET OVER YOUR INNER CONFLICTS

Your product is good.

Business only works when both sides prosper.

The way to sell without manipulation: the P.A.S.T.O,R, framework.

  • P – Person, Problem, Pain
  • A – Amplify, Aspiration
  • S – Story, Struggle, Solution, System
  • T – Transformation, Testimonials
  • O – Objections, Offer
  • R – Reverse the Risk, Raise the value, Request a Response

We have a free video training series on this which you can access at this link.

Next week we will dive deep into how you can Prosper With Purpose. What's the PURPOSE behind all this prospering? How can you prosper and feel positive about it?

Listener Questions

This week we bring back listener questions. We have questions from:

  • Kevin Lageer asks how do you go about finding your passion when there's nothing you feel passionate about.
  • Julie wants to know how to get this free book about LinkedIn marketing from John Nemo.
  • Tyrone Barton from Alabama says he loves the show – and has some suggestions for us.
  • Matt Champagne  takes issue with something Ray said a few episodes back.

Tip of the Week:  How to Triple Your Productivity

The trick is pretty simple: use three times as many monitors.

  1. I can keep a resource open on one monitor (research, notes, etc.)
  2. My working document on the center monitor.
  3. I can keep communication or utilities open on the third monitor.

You can do this rather on the cheap (as I currently am). I use these three: my Macbook Pro 15″ Retina, and two run-of-the-mill 21″ LCD monitors.

And once you decide this really works for you, you can upgrade with a specialized dock (which is what I'm doing next). I recommend you look at the Henge Dock.

Why Henge Dock?2016-06-30_10-18-06

Intelligent. Automated docking and full integration with Mac OS X together make the world’s most intelligent docking station.

Powerful. Support for up to three external displays and 13 expansion ports, including Thunderbolt 2 – your Macbook has never been more powerful.

Elegant. Metal architecture and an elegant design create a natural extension of your MacBook.

Secure. Safeguard your MacBook automatically with password protected dock locking.

Henge Dock for Macbook Pro is $ 449 USD

Feature Segment: Package Your Passion

3 Converging Forces That Make This Possible

  1. Global Networks
  2. Instant Commerce Systems
  3. Digital Distribution

These 3 converging forces make it possible to take your life's passion – the thing that lights you up inside, that brings you joy, that makes you come alive – and turn that passion into a book, a product or a business?

What could you possibly package? What if you “don't have a passion”?

Discover your passion with an “I Exam”:

1. Things you love to do.
2. Things you're good at (other people say so).
3. Things other people pay for that are on lists (1) and (2)

A convergence here gives you a place to start.

The “how” to make the product is NOT THE MAIN ISSUE. It's a detail.

Park the thoughts of tech, and next week, we will explore how to “promote your products.”
